Your guide to receiving your own work of art.

Oil portraits take time. If this is a gift you need quickly or you cannot wait for weeks,

I will be happy to refer you to artists with a faster process.

Thank you for your patience!

Commission Process

Step One: Contact Me

Option 1:
Fill out the Get a Quote form. It will be emailed directly to me.

Option 2:

If your request is unique or needs more explanation, you’re welcome to reach out directly at crjacksonart@gmail.com.

Step Two: Send References

Option 1: Existing Photos
If you plan to use photos you already have, I’ll request those via email and ask a few specific questions to better understand what you’re looking for.

Option 2: Portrait Sitting
If you’d like to sit for a portrait, I’ll arrange for a photographer in your area to contact you. A deposit will be required before scheduling, as the cost of the sitting is included in your commission.

The photographer will send me several reference options, which I’ll review with you before moving forward.*

Step Three: Quote & Agreement

Once we’ve agreed on your vision, I’ll send an official quote and agreement. A 25% deposit is required for me to begin. Payment options include Venmo and PayPal, which I’ll link for you.

Step Four: Painting Begins

Paint time! Every painting is created entirely by hand from start to finish, so patience is appreciated. I’ll provide a time estimate before requesting a deposit, but most paintings take 2–3 weeks to complete, depending on my current workload.

You’ll be notified when I begin, and I’ll send frequent photo updates as the work progresses.

After completion, your painting will rest for two weeks to cure. A protective varnish will then be applied to enhance color and longevity, which requires an additional two days to cure.

Step Five: Final Payment & Shipping

Only after you’ve seen the finished piece and are fully satisfied will I request the remaining balance. Your painting will then be carefully packaged and shipped, along with a personal thank-you from me.

I’ll follow up to ensure your artwork arrives safely. If any damage occurs during shipping, a refund of the payment minus the deposit will be issued.
